"Voici une lettre de Gaute Godager, Game Director d'Age of Conan, elle est adressée à la communauté suite à l'annonce du report du jeu.
J'ai l'impression d'être l'oiseau de mauvaise augure, ou le facteur arrivant avec les factures, ou encore le type qui met un papier sur le pare-brise de votre voiture après l'avoir abîmée. De plus, je suis toujours seul quand les portes de l'ascenseur s'ouvrent et qu'une jolie demoiselle entre en se curant le nez. Il semble que je n'écris que des mauvaises nouvelles ! Je veux donc vous écrire cette lettre informative pour vous encourager, pour vous dire que nous sommes sur la bonne voie et que, par Crom nous sommes proches de la fin !
Bien que vous puissiez ne pas le voir ainsi, et être frustré, nous repoussons le jeu parce que nous pensons que c'est la bonne décision à prendre. Bien entendu, cela semble hautain et au bord de l'arrogance lorsque j'affirme que cette décision est la bonne. Vous voulez quelque chose de meilleur que ce que nous vous aurions offert en Mars. Vous méritez quelque chose de meilleur. Je voudrais donc vous présenter mes excuses, non pas pour notre décision mais pour vous avoir déçus. Le précédent délai avait été une décision majeure de redéfinition du combat et de son équilibre. Ce n'est pas le cas cette fois. Nous avons cet important aspect sous contrôle, bien que tout n'ait pas été implémenté dans la beta à la vitesse désirée. A présent, nous en sommes simplement à travailler les finitions. Nous recevons toujours des retours très positifs sur les derniers changements. Comme vous pouvez le constater dans cet article par exemple si vous vous faites du souci quant au progrès du jeu. Bien que nous ayons vu le nombre de bugs diminuer comme prévu, l'augmentation du niveau de finition n'a pas suivi les mêmes espérances. Cette différence ne peut que s'expliquer par le fait que les correctifs n'ont pas tous eu une implémentation parfaite. Deux bugs sortent de la beta et un entre en même temps. En lisant les réactions sur nos forums à propos de cette annonce, je vois et je comprends que dans la plupart des cas vous vous sentez concernés par le statut du jeu. Comme moi, vous savez que la dernière période d'amélioration est ce qui fait ou défait les impressions que nous avons directement après le lancement. Comme moi, beaucoup d'entre vous savent que la création d'un jeu n'est pas une science exacte. Nous devons traiter avec des émotions, du plaisir, de la technologie et d'autres choses encore.
Sortir le jeu en Mars était clairement notre objectif, il y a quelques semaines encore. En tant que société de jeu vidéo, nous sommes forcés de faire ce que nous pouvons avec les dates de lancement d'une manière différente, surtout en sachant que beaucoup de nos attentes se portent sur Age of Conan. Et chaque fois que quelque chose change, nous devons en informer les marchés boursiers en priorité. La plupart de nos employés n'ont découvert la nouvelle que ce matin conformément aux exigences juridiques. La décision finale du report a été prise par moi-même et quelques uns de nos plus haut responsables durant le weekend. La prémisse était simple. Je voudrais terminer en étant bien clair à ce sujet : contrairement à notre dernier report d'août, nous ne sommes plus dans une situation dans laquelle nous devons repenser certains aspects du jeu. Nous sommes désormais dans la dernière ligne droite avec l'objectif clairement en vue. Comme je vous l'ai dit auparavant, nous ne sommes ni la première ni la dernière société de jeux vidéos à s'accorder un temps de développement supplémentaire dans cette dernière ligne droite. Cela n'est néanmoins pas une excuse, mais au final c'est la qualité qui compte. Ce temps supplémentaire, c'est un bel espoir. Dans seulement quatre mois, vous saurez si nous avons fait le bon choix. Et je suis certain que nous l'avons fait !

Ca fait plaisir de voir que vous n'avez pas la mentalité de tous ces boulets qu'on peut croiser sur le site off qui whine pour rien. Un report de plus est en effet une grosse déception, mais je pense pas que ça les amusent ! Personnelement, je suis sur qu'ils feront encore mieu grâce à ce report. Je suis donc assez content car ils prennent soin de sortir un produit finit. Ca changera de certaines bouses de MMO qui ont dut fermer leur porte car ils n'avait pas prétés attention à la qualité du jeu une fois sortie.

S'ils l'auraient sorti fin mars, on n'aurait eu des miettes de contenus de-ci de-là au fur et à mesure de divers correctif/patchs.
